Samuel Leval Daniels was born February 9th, 1932, in Duncan, AZ to Bill Arp Daniels and Anona Wamsley Daniels. He passed away quietly in his home on October 14th, 2022, surrounded by family.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents, and his older brother, Bill Gene Daniels, of Yuma, Arizona.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Sharon Rose Webb Daniels; his younger brother, Dan Daniels and his wife, Julie; Patricia Menefee (Myra), Karen Daniels-Malta, Kathi Menefee-Haggin, Michael Menefee (Connie), Sherri Menefee-Larkin (Wick), and Janice Daniels. He is also survived by his 6 grandchildren – Tim, Jeremy, Kyle, Jason, Chris, and Alexandria, along with his 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sam served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 – 1955 and was stationed on the USS Oriskany during the Korean Conflict. He began his law enforcement career with the Department of Public Safety in 1960 and retired as a lieutenant in 1981. That same year he was appointed Justice of the Peace for Navajo County. He attended the National Judicial College at the University of Nevada at Reno. He served until 1994.
Membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was something he cherished, and he enjoyed his many callings.
Sam and Sharon have a wide range of friends who rode ATVs and UTVs and loved exploring the backwoods of Arizona. They traveled extensively throughout the U.S. with friends and with their youngest granddaughter, Alexandria. Sam was a proud Arizonan and had many skills besides law and order. He shod his own horses and could cook biscuits and gravy for 50 people.
There will be a viewing at Owens Livingston Mortuary in Snowflake on Friday, October 21, 2022, from
6:00pm–8:00pm. The funeral services will be held at the Centennial Blvd Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 880 N. Centennial Blvd, Taylor, Arizona on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 3:00pm with a viewing prior to services starting at 2:00pm.
Burial will follow at Reed Hatch Memorial Cemetery in Taylor, Arizona.
The family expresses gratitude to their friends, neighbors and extended church family for the kindness and support provided during this hard time.
