Michael Wayne O'Dell

Michael “Mike” Wayne O’Dell, 65, of Holbrook, Arizona, passed away February 9, 2022.

Mike was born March 11, 1956, to J.W. and Donna O’Dell in Holbrook, Arizona, where he grew up with his siblings Murray, Mark, and Robin, all of Holbrook.

Mike was passionate about music and animals from a very early age. He was very talented and enjoyed playing with any musical instrument or creature he could get his hands on until his final days. 

Mike graduated a proud Roadrunner from Holbrook High School in 1974, where he made many lifelong friends. 

Mike married the love of his life “Marty” O 'Dell on November 10, 1978. Mike and Marty went on to have 3 children, Eric, Brenda, and Aaron O’Dell.

Mike dedicated his life to serving The City of Holbrook that he loved so much, over the past 43 years where he held a position in nearly every department throughout his life, starting in 1979. Mike organized many cleanups and events for Holbrook's Arizona Clean and Beautiful. He was involved in many preservation projects. The Holbrook old west Cemetery group, the history of Holbrook group, the bucket of blood Saloon project, he was a member of The Defenders of Wildlife and had taken action to protect both wildlife and wildlands. He showed a true appreciation for our nation's natural heritage.  He ended his career with his passion, the preservation and protection of the Hidden Cove Petroglyph Park.  

We can't imagine a stronger, kinder, better guy to learn from to laugh with and love. 

 He is survived by his father J.W. O’Dell, his wife Marty, his children Eric, Brenda, Aaron O’Dell, his cherished grandchildren Andrew, Connor, Chloe, Jessica, siblings Murray, Mark and Robin. He was preceded in death by his mother, Donna O’Dell. All of whom were deeply loved by Mike.

A public viewing will be held on March 3, 2022, between 6-7 p.m. at Owens Mortuary in Holbrook, Arizona.  Graveside services will be held at Holbrook Cemetery on March 4, 2022, at 1:00 p.m.
