David Tolford Williams passed away on April 8, 2022 at the age of 65 when he crashed on his dirt bike while out riding on the forest roads near his home in Show Low, Arizona.
Dave was born on April 23, 1956 in Cleveland, OH to Carl Alan Williams, Jr. and Margaret Ann (Roth) Williams. At the age of seven, Dave and his older brother moved with their parents from Ohio to Southern California. Dave attended Carver Elementary School, graduated from San Marino High School in 1974, and earned an Associate of Science degree from Pasadena City College.
Around that time, Dave took a job in the Printing Industry, where he enjoyed a long career in various positions and excelled as a printing salesman for more than 20 years before retiring.
Dave became a father to his only son in 1997. Randy was his father’s pride and joy ever since. Dave was a very involved father attending every soccer and baseball game and every school event including the many times his son was awarded honors for his excellent grades and accomplishments. He shared his love of camping and dirt bike riding with his son, which was one of his favorite ways to spend weekends and vacations. He could not have been prouder of Randy than when he graduated from college and entered the U.S. Air Force’s pilot training as a 2nd Lieutenant.
Dave was happiest when he was outdoors whether he was riding a motorcycle, working on a landscaping project, hiking a trail or going for a walk in the neighborhood on a frigid winter day, cutting down a dead tree, or just sitting on the deck with a cocktail watching the sunset. Recently, he rekindled his hobby of flying radio-controlled airplanes and spent every morning that the wind was calm up on Show Low bluff refining his flying skills.
Dave and Cyndi met at work in 1986 and became forever friends. In 2000, Cyndi and Dave became a couple and later married in 2008. In early 2017, they retired from their respective careers and moved to Show Low, Arizona where they built a new home and enjoyed all that nature has to offer in the White Mountains. They enjoyed hiking, bicycling, kayaking, dirt and street motorcycle riding, off-roading in their Jeep and traveling in their motorhome to other wonderful wilderness areas like Colorado, Utah, Montana and Wyoming. In every new place they landed, Dave enjoyed meeting new people and making more friends. He had a genuine interest in others who shared his love of motorcycles, traveling and exploring all the wonderful and historic places in our country.
Dave is survived by his wife, Cyndi; son, Randy; stepsons, Mikal and David; stepdaughter & grandchildren, Cerina, Jayden and Mia; brother, Craig and nephew, Michael, their wives and children/grandchildren, and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl in 2009 and Margaret in 2016, and his son-in-law, Tyler in 2022.
Funeral Services for Dave Williams will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022. His ashes will be interred at the Show Low Cemetery at 10:00am immediately followed by a Celebration of his life at The Hideaway Lounge and banquet room at the Country Court Event Hall, 3369 W. White Mountain Blvd., Lakeside, AZ 85929 (from approximately 12 to 4pm).
We want to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who has responded to the news about Dave. Randy and I are deeply touched by your words of love and support.
Since Dave wanted to be cremated and so many of our family and friends live far from Show Low, we decided to wait a month to have his funeral services so folks would have enough time to arrange for travel.
