William "Bill" Edward Schultz, a dedicated educator and compassionate community volunteer, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2024, in Taylor, Arizona, at the age of 87. Born on January 9, 1937, in Saginaw, Michigan, William's journey through life was characterized by a deep commitment to education and service.
Bill attended Phoenix Union School, and went on to obtain his Master's Degree from Arizona State University. He devoted over three decades to teaching music, mostly band, in various schools, including McNary, Chandler, Scottsdale, and Whiteriver, imparting knowledge and inspiring countless students. He loved music! Especially playing the drums, he could often be found on a friday night playing at locations all over Arizona. Bill retired from his teaching career in 1989, leaving a lasting impact on the lives he touched.
Following his retirement, Bill channeled his passion for helping others by founding the St. Vincent dePaul Thrift Store alongside his wife. He served as the volunteer manager for many years, demonstrating his unwavering dedication to community service.
Bill is survived by his beloved daughter, Kristen (Stephen) Lennon; his granddaughter, Emily (Daniel) Hernandez; and his great-granddaughter, Anna Grace Hernandez, who will carry forward his legacy of kindness and generosity. Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ann Schultz; his parents, Leonard and Gertrude Duranso Schultz; and his brothers, Leonard Schultz Jr, Robert Schultz, and Eugene La Londe.
A graveside service will be held in his honor at Lakeside Cemetery on Friday, December 6, 2024, at 11:00 AM. Family, friends, and all who knew William are warmly invited to celebrate his life and contributions to the community. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who were fortunate to know him.
