William “Bill” Perron, Jr. of Snowflake, Arizona peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on January 1, 2019 following a brief illness. Bill was born on January 3, 1933 in Fall River, Massachusetts to the late William and Imelda (Hubert) Perron, Sr.
Bill enlisted in the United States Marine Corp in April of 1950 in Fall River, Massachusetts. He served during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War before retiring as a Master Gunnery Sargent on June 30, 1974 in Quantico, Virginia after 25 faithful years of service. On December 23, 1971 in Winterhaven, California Bill married the love of his life, Lori Bennett, and they recently celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary.
Bill was an active member in the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. He was a Past District Deputy to the Grand Exalted Ruler and a Past Exalted Ruler from Yuma Elks Lodge #476. He was a Life Member of the Show Low Elks Lodge #2090 and served 35 faithful years in Elkdom. He was a ritual judge for the Elks ritual competition for many years and helped coach the Show Low Ritual team compete in the National Ritual Competition in New Orleans for their Fraternal Year 2013-2014.
Bill was a member of the American Legion Post #642 in Sedalia, Missouri and a Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV.) A true patriot Bill will be deeply missed by all his family and friends. Semper Fi Marine “Ooh-rah!”
He is survived by his loving wife, Lori Perron of Snowflake; children: Stephen R. Perron and Catherine M. Hill; step-children, Richard D. Sluder and Lynn White; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, Arthur Perron and Joe Perron.
He was preceded in death by a son, Michael D. Perron; step-daughter, Joyce Ann Handcock; sisters, Rita Swenson and Claire Perron and brothers, Raymond Perron and Roger Pelletier.
A Memorial Mass will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 12, 2018 at the St. Rita’s Catholic Church, 1400 E. Owens, Show Low. There will be an Elks memorial service held 1:00 P.M. Sunday, January 13, 2018 at the Show Low Elks Lodge #2090, 805 E. Whipple, Show Low, Arizona with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Elks National Foundation, 2750 N. Lakeview Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60614-2256 in Bill’s name.
