Virginia Mae Evans

Virginia Mae McGriff (Evans) was born August 26, 1934 in New Sharon, IA. She passed away May 4, 2022 in Snowflake, AZ. 

Virginia is survived by her three children, Susan Moore, Diane Andrews (Jim), and David Evans (Kay); four grandchildren, Cindy Martinson (Ed), Cheri Parcells (Brian), Thomas Arries, and James Andrews (Heather); eleven great-grandchildren; six great great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Virginia was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Clemm Evans, Jr.; her son-in-law Herbie Moore; her father Freddy McGriff, mother Stella Clemmons, three brothers, Mike, John, and Jim; five sisters, Dorothy, Mildred, lla, Pearl and Patricia.

Virginia dedicated her life to her family. Clemm and Virginia loved to entertain, and Virginia was an excellent cook, especially known for her homemade pies. 

While serving two terms in the Show Low City Council, Virginia was active in the Meals on Wheels program, and very supportive of the senior center. Thanks to her leadership and hard work, Show Low enjoys a beautiful dog park. 

Virginia never knew a stranger and was loved by family and friends alike. 

Now she can visit her beloved Black Hills whenever she wants.

Services for Virginia will be held at 1pm, Friday, May 13, 2022 at Owens Livingston Mortuary White Mountain Chapel, 320 N. 9th Street, Show Low, AZ, 85901. Burial will immediately follow at Show Low Cemetery, Show Low, AZ.
