Vera Marjorie Ingermann, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother, was called by the Lord on March 25, 2020. Vera was born on June 5th, 1918 and was two months shy of her 102nd birthday when she passed.
The eldest of three girls, Vera was born in Oak Ridge, MO and in 1923, she traveled with her parents to California from Laramie, WY in a Model T Ford with a jump seat. Northern California is where she grew up, married Homer Ingermann and where her children, Gail and Don were both born. In 1948, Vera, Homer and their children moved to Arizona where she would spend the rest of her life. She was an accountant for multiple companies and retired in 1979 as the Central Credit Manager for Montgomery Ward. After her retirement, she was a dedicated grandmother & friend. Vera served and traveled the world within the Daughters of the Nile service organization. Specifically, she served within the Qadesh Temple #35, Daughters of the Nile and Sphinx Court #65 and Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America.
Vera is fondly remembered as a beautiful and intelligent woman with an independent and indomitable spirit. She enjoyed hosting gatherings of family and friends, drove a Camero Berlinetta until she was in her 70’s, infused everything she did with style and grace and ensured her family knew they were loved. In her later years, she greatly enjoyed the peace and quiet of the mountains and her family. Vera spent her final years living with her daughter and son-in-law in their home in Pinetop, Arizona and, finally, at Solterra Senior Living in Lakeside, Arizona.
Vera was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Zola Childs, her husband, Homer Ingermann, sisters, Elsie Johnson & Violet Ruoff and her great-grandson Sam DeCross. She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Don and Sue Ingermann of Denver, Colorado, and her daughter and son in law, Gail and Wendell DeCross of Pinetop, Arizona. Her five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren are truly grateful to have known and loved her.
