Trudy Coon

Trudy Bethel Coon went to her eternal home on July 9, 2024. She was born on April 27, 1949, to Gene and Nellie Simms in Parkersburg, WV.

Her family moved to Arizona in 1954; first to Phoenix, then Tucson, and finally arriving in the White Mountains in 1965.

A loving wife and mother, Trudy is survived by her husband, Gene; son, Jason (Kim); sister, Deloras; brother, Kevin (Jayne); and multiple nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

Trudy graduated from Blue Ridge High School in 1967; from nursing school at St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix in 1970; and then began a 25-year career as a Registered Nurse in the White Mountains. On December 21, 1968 she married the love of her life, Gene Coon. Their son, Jason, was born on August 5, 1972. After graduating from nursing school, Trudy worked at Goldwater Hospital, McNary Clinic, and at Navapache Regional Medical Center until 1995.

Trudy's family is eternally grateful to the many friends and family that shared their love, support, and stories, especially to the staff of Compassus Hospice of Lakeside for the loving care given to Trudy and her family.

Trudy's family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to the White Mountain Hospice Foundation, Inc. at www.whitemountainhospicefoundation.org.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 10:00 am at Owens Livingston Mortuary of Show Low, 320 N. 9th St., in Showlow, Arizona.
