Pinetop

Suzette Marie Baca, (nee Vice), passed away August 30, 2024, and was born on January 2, 1947 in Peoria, Illinois to Lyle J. and Patricia A Vice.

At thirteen she moved with her family to Ft. Apache, Arizona, where she stayed until graduating from Alchesay High School in June 1964. While at Alchesay she was the head cheerleader, FFA Sweetheart, Homecoming Queen, and played lead in many plays, such as HMS Pinafore, and Madame Butterfly. She was 1st Soprano in Arizona Allstate Choir all 4 years of High School.

She attended NAU and in January 1965 she married the love of her life, Pat Baca. Suzie and Pat recently celebrated their 60th Anniversary. They built a life and had 5 children. Her family was her everything. She committed her whole life to raising younger siblings, her children, and grandchildren. She was always there for everybody and asked very little in return.

She was instrumental in bringing Sweet Adeline's Barbershop Chorus to Flagstaff, bowled in women's leagues, and was a huge supporter of Pop Warner Football, and was a longtime active member of the Coconino High School Panther Booster Club. There was nothing her children participated in that she wasn't the biggest supporter of.

People came to Midnight Mass in Pinetop for years to hear her sing "Oh Holy Night" and "Ave Maria". Suzie was more like a mom to her siblings and gave them all birthday and graduation parties. She had a very close bond with her sisters, Pam and Cindy, and sister-in-law, Sadie Carillo. She was loved by everyone!

She was pre-deceased by her parents; brother, Danny Vice; and daughter, Mellissa Baca Boozell.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Pat; sons, David (Kelley), of Maryland, Jimmy, of Phoenix, Mark, of Pinetop; daughter, Molly, of Pinetop; brother, Mark (Jeannette) of Ojo Encino, New Mexico; sisters, Rev. Pamela Parson's (Roscoe) of Arizona City, AZ, Cindy Holcombe (Richard) of Cottonwood, Arizona; sisters-in-law, Sadie Carillo, of Flagstaff, Leroy Baca of Mesa, Annie Flores (Luis), of Pinetop, and Arlene, of Pinetop; grandchildren, Rachel, Allysa, Emily, Justin, Lindsey, Michael, Austin, Angelique, Colby, and Christine; great-granddaughters, Ella, Mia, Giovanni, and Guilliana; and great-grandson, Milo.

A Visitation and Rosary will be held at Owens Livingston Mortuary, 320 N. 9th St., in Showlow, Arizona from 6:00-8:00pm, Thursday, September 5, 2024. An additional visitation will take place Friday, September 6th, St. Mary's Catholic Church, Pinetop, Arizona from 10:00-10:30. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30. A reception will follow at the same location.

Her contributions to her family and community are too many to mention and all will feel her loss deeply and for always.
