Steven Ray Riley

March 30, 1990 — February 18, 2023

Born March 30, 1990 in Phoenix, Arizona. Entered into an unexpected eternal rest on February 18, 2023 in Whiteriver, Arizona.

Steven was a loving father to his 5 young children. When Steven was not with his children, he was a family man who enjoyed special moments with his mother and siblings. Those moments are filled with his jokes, name calling, cooking and eating. Steven was the eldest and only boy of his mother’s four children.

Steven was an avid outdoorsman. He could often be found out on the backroads for a drive or out hunting, fishing, antler hunting, or cutting wood. He learned the way of the outdoors at a young age with the help of his uncles Arvin and John. Typically, he could be found with his good family and friends JoJo, Kenny, Mike and Frank.

Those who knew Steven would describe him as a very happy and always smiling person with a great sense of humor. One of his greatest qualities was the way his smile lit up any room he walked into, and the sound of his laughter could lift everyone’s spirits. He always went out of his way to ensure everyone he loved was okay, especially his mom with whom he had a close bond, calling and texting her throughout the day.

Steven worked in the deli department of the local Bashas where he was very proactive in customer service, greeting and serving. Steven moved on to work at the Indian Health Service Dietary department. He loved preparing and delivering patients meals and holding conversations with the patients. He especially loved the pediatric ward. Steven would also serve as a guide to the IHS Wellness Group taking them on hikes to Mount Baldy and Pacheta Falls. Steven then joined the WMAT Utility Authority. He enjoyed his job, particularly helping the elderly. He would state the satisfaction of seeing and hearing the gratitude from the public made his job worthwhile.

We remember Steven for the joy and happiness he brought to everyone who was blessed to know him.
