With profound sadness yet a heart full of gratitude, we announce the passing of Steven
James Moles, who departed this world on March 18, 2025, of natural causes. Born on
September 4, 1957, in Amarillo, Texas, Steven was a pillar of strength and wisdom to
many; his life flowed like poetry and left a lasting imprint on every soul he touched.
Steven was more than a dedicated teacher and Speech and Debate Coach at
Snowflake High School; he was a beacon of joy and a guiding light to countless
students towards their own destinies. He inspired minds not only within the walls of
academia but also on a global scale, sharing his passions for learning, music, and
movies far and wide. Chivalry and honor were never dead with him! He required those
around him to act honorably. He used to say "a person's honor is the only thing they can
ever truly own."
A true king of all trades, he was a proficient tailor as well as a restorer of historic homes
in Oklahoma, breathing new life into the past. His creativity flourished as an award-
winning published author, where he shared his insights and the wisdom gleaned from
years of experience. He was a devoted Miami Dolphins fan from their expansion years,
"when they couldn't win a game," till the day he died. He also loved the ideals and
inspiration found in the Star Trek universe.
He leaves behind his beloved daughters, Stephioney and Crystal Moles, and son Bear
Payton whose spirits carry forward the love and knowledge that Steven imparted. His
legacy will echo in the hearts of his students, friends, and family, as they remember the
profound influence he had on their lives.
A celebration of Stevens life will be held this summer corresponding with the annual Snowflake Pioneer Day reunions, allowing all whose lives he
touched to gather and share memories of joy and laughter. The service will honor the shining light he brought into our lives. The exact place and
time will be determined later.
At that time, we will come together to celebrate a life that was well-lived. We invite
everyone who had the privilege of knowing Steven to join us in commemorating a
remarkable man. Let us honor his memory with the same compassion and warmth he
so generously offered to others.
As we say goodbye to our beloved Steven, let us remember him not with sorrow but
with gratitude for the lessons learned, the beauty he created, the joy he radiated, and
the jokes he was telling or pulling. May his spirit find peace as we carry forth his light in
our daily lives.
