Stanley Frank Lash died June 1, 2021, at his home in Show Low, Arizona. Stanley was born on July 5, 1958, in Garrett, DeKalb County, Indiana to his parents, Gerald Frank "Jerry" and Janice Elaine (Robart) Lash.
In 1960, the Lash family moved from Indiana to Arizona, where they have since lived. Stanley was a graduated member of Blue Ridge High School's Class of 1976 in Lakeside, Arizona. During his high school years, he was a basketball phenomenon. From 1973 to 1976, there were regular newspaper articles written by the White Mountain Independent about him. It is reported that in one game, he scored 40 points in a single game and, in another game, he scored a personal record of 47. Several universities were looking and inquiring about him including: Pepperdine, Oregon State, Hawaii State and North Carolina State. It was definitely a thrilling time in his life and his family was might proud of him.
Stanley worked in the construction industry throughout his adult life. He was familiar with just about any type of construction. He worked hard and was well-liked by many. He also had an affinity for motorcycles. He owned a Honda 750 and loved to take it out on road trips throughout the southwest.
Many years ago, Stanley stopped at the Raven Site Ruins between Eagar and St. Johns and participated in an archaeological dig. The Raven Site is a set of ruins located above the Little Colorado River in the White Mountain region of Arizona. It is believed to have been inhabited by the Anasazi and Mogollon people in approximately 100 A.D. until 1450 A. D. The site consist of a pueblo that features two kivas with more than eight hundred rooms. While digging at the site, Stanley found a leg bone that came from a prehistoric camel. The little museum that used to be there, put it on display and added Stanley's name to it and showed it until the site was closed.
He is survived by his father, Gerald F. "Jerry" Lash of Lakeside, Arizona and by his brother, Craig R. Lash of Toledo, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his mother, Janice Lash.
The graveside service will begin 1:00 P.M., Friday, June 11, 2021, at the Lakeside Cemetery off of Larson Road in Lakeside, Arizona, where Fr. Bill Day will officiate and offer the gravesite blessing.
