Shem Tyler Bowman

September 6, 1995 — June 4, 2022

Shem Tyler Bowman died from injuries he sustained in a diving accident at the Chevelon Canyon Bridge about thirty minutes outside of Holbrook, Arizona. He was 26 years old. Shem was born on Wednesday, September 6, 1995, in Holbrook, Arizona to his parents, Dr. Samuel Kent and Marian Louise (Stevens) Bowman

Shem was a young man, who learned from his parents, the meaning of hard work and the importance of having a good solid education. While in his youth, Shem achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in The Boy Scouts of America. In high school, he excelled in his school work and was, also, quite an athlete. An All Star Football player, Shem also was an Arizona State Wrestling Champion.  Shem was a graduated member of Holbrook High School's Class of 2014. He then attended Grand Canyon University (GCU) for a year. During this time, Shem decided the military would be a great avenue to help him achieve his education goals. He enlisted in boot camp for a year and then went back to his studies at GCU. While back in college, he joined the United States Air Force Reserves. He served faithfully for 4 years. After receiving his honorable discharge from the USAF Reserves, Shem continued at GCU and, in 2019, he received his Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences, graduating Summa Cum Laude and was well-prepared for Pre-Med. He was smart, brilliant and gifted. His family was proud of him and all of his accomplishments.

During his younger years, Shem worked as a lifeguard in Holbrook and gave swimming lessons to many of its youth and taught a lot them how to swim. While living in Phoenix and going to college, and then post-college,  he worked as an Ophthalmology Tech 1 for Phoenix Children's Hospital as well as other private ophthalmologists. Shem felt a special affinity towards children. It was his great life's aspiration to work in pediatric medicine and he was well on his way of achieving that goal. Most recently, Shem worked as a plant operator for Enterprise Products, which is a natural gas storage facility, in Adamana, east of Holbrook, Arizona. Wherever he was living or wherever he was working, he was well liked and loved by many, if not all.

Shem was a man who enjoyed life and all that it had to offer. He loved being outside enjoying the "playground" that was found there. He loved being in his swim trunks and playing in any waterhole; be it pool, pond, river or lake. He was just getting involved and excited about kayaking. During winter months, snowboarding in the mountains was always on the venue. The epitome of Adonis, Shem took very good care of his mortal clay and spent countless hours weightlifting; perfecting every muscle on his body. He'd be the first to tell you that, "It was a lot of hard work!" He loved life and his family finds a great deal of comfort in knowing that when he closed his eyes to this life, they immediately were opened in the next and that it was instant. They rejoice in knowing that their "Family is Forever."

Shem is survived by his parents, Sam and Marian Bowman of Holbrook; 8 siblings: Kalob (Jenna) Bowman of Queen Creek, AZ, Michael Bowman of Tucson, AZ, Seth Bowman, currently of Kansas City, KS, Luke Bowman of Gainesville, MO, Alyssa Bowman of Oklahoma City, OK, Jedde Bowman of Phoenix, AZ, Kaylee Bowman of Holbrook, AZ, Shad Bowman of Holbrook, AZ; his girlfriend, Camille Griffith of Mesa, AZ; 2 grandparents: Lee Anna Rogers of Holbrook, AZ, Malvern Stevens of Joplin, MO; 10 nieces and nephews: Blaire, Kash, Breck, Ridge, Indie, Cynthia, Chad, Savannah, Brielle, Beau Bowman and numerous aunts and uncles and countless friends whom he loved as family. Shem also leaves behind his precious red golden retriever, Charli, who has been wandering around the house wondering where he is. A blessed rescue pup, Charli has been a great "best friend" to him and helped him through many challenging times in college.

The public visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Friday, June 10, 2022, at Owens Livingston Mortuary - Holbrook, Chapel, 409 N. First Avenue, in Holbrook, Arizona.
