Sammy Jackson Harris, 81, returned to his Heavenly Home on September 23, 2021, at his home in Woodruff, Arizona surrounded by family. The son of Lonnie Leroy and Jewell Inez Harris. Sam was born in Macon, Georgia on October 4, 1939, the youngest of 3. Sam married the love of his life Hazel Ann Potts on July 8, 1961, after meeting while both stationed in France while serving their country in the United States Army. Together they raised 5 children. Sam loved hunting, fishing, camping but his favorite pass time by far was spending time with his family. Sam had a smile and a hug for anyone he met, he knew no stranger. Everyone was family in Sam’s eyes. He loved to serve others and did so often. Both by magnifying his Church callings and by being willing and ready to help anybody at anytime. Sam retired at the rank of 1st Sargent after 25 years in the United States Army and moved to Woodruff Arizona in May 1983 from Fairbanks Alaska. Sam then went to college and got a Degree while working for Navajo County and eventually retiring. He is survived by his beloved wife Hazel, children: Sammy Lee (Kathy), Michael Ray (Lisa), Steven Leroy (Jamie), Cheryl Ann, and Tony Wayne (Jenny), 40 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren with 3 on the way. He was preceded in death by his father, Lonnie Leroy, his mother, Jewell Inez, his brother Leroy Marshall, his sister Lucy Barbara “Bob”, and grandchildren Spencer Karol, Jennica Harris, and Christopher Hagan.
