Roy Douglas Phillips of Holbrook, Arizona went to be with the Lord on Saturday May 22, 2021 in Flagstaff, Arizona. He was 73. Roy was born on March 31, 1948 to Minnie and Myron Thornton Phillips of Pulaski, Virginia.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents and 5 siblings: Donald, Basil, Jimmy, Alva and Freddie. He was also preceded in death by his aunt and uncle, Louise “Di” and Arbie “Hoss” Phillips as well as 2 step-children, Frank and Nick Moya.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Phillips and his children: Wendy, Lori (Brian), Kelly (Timothy), Holly (Dillon), Renee (Eugene) and Rodney (Amber); 47 grand and great-grandchildren as well as many extended family members which include nieces, nephews and cousins.
Roy was raised in Follansbee, West Virginia and in 1967 he joined the United States Air Force and served 26 years with an honorable discharge. Roy received many outstanding medals and awards throughout his military career.
Roy was loving and kind to everyone who knew him. He had a great sense of humor and loved to tell a good joke. During retirement Roy kept himself busy with his many skills including woodworking, building his workshop and cooking for his family and friends. He enjoyed listening to music, singing, and reading his bible.
We know Roy had a personal relationship with the Lord and we know God took him into His arms and said, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”
Memorial services will be held 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at the First Baptist Church in Holbrook, 360 N. Fist Avenue. Inurnment will follow with military honors at the Holbrook Cemetery.
