Robert Carl Standiford, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2025, at home with family. He was born in Snowflake Arizona to Buster and Juanita Standiford on November 22, 1948.
Robert was known throughout the community for being hard-working, compassionate, and strong-willed. He had a brother,Kelly Staniford and a cousin, Margret Hansen Wisner. They grew up together in Holbrook, Arizona. Robert enjoyed hunting and fishing more than anything. He had very fond memories of eating anything his mother would make for him.
He met Judi Wilkinson "making laps" (driving from Wayside to Dairy queen). Before he met Judi all he knew about her was that her nickname was "Mustang Sally". Once he met her, he had to court her because he knew there was something about her. Once Judi's brother Dick had found out about their courtship he said, "anyone but him". However, once Robert and Dick met, they were instantly best friends.
After 5 months Robert and Judi married on August 18, 1967, in Judi's parent's living room. He was drafted a few years into their marriage. He left and served in Vietnam. Like many Vietnam vets his experience was not great. A special time in his service was when Judi was able to come visit him for R&R in Hawaii on their 6th anniversary. This gave him the strength to finish his tour, until he could come home to Judi.
After being honorably discharged, he came home, and it was time to start a family. Ryan
Standiford was born in July of 1973, and then came their daughter Kristyn Standiford, in May 1975. They raised their family on part of Judi's parent's property in Joseph City.
Robert loved to take his children fishing at Cholla Lake. He also would take Ryan hunting with him.
When Kristyn was older, she married Daniel Hill and had three children. Ironically when Robert was growing up, he used to give Daniel's father rides to school and then they ended up being in-laws with each other. Robert and Judi's grandchildren were Mariah Hill and twin boys named Chandler and Alexander Hill. Mariah met Jonathan Davis who already had a child LaKyrah Davis and together they had LaMyah Davis. Robert's grandchildren and great-grandchildren were also raised on the family property. Robert absolutely loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Just being able to see LaKyrah and LaMyah would make his whole day better.
Five months prior to his passing he and Judi celebrated their 57-year anniversary.
He is survived by his wife, Judi; children, Ryan and Kristyn; grandchildren, Mariah, Chandler, and Alex; great-grandchildren, LaKyrah and LaMyah; and his brother, Kelly.
Although we wish we had more time with him he had a life fulfilled with family. He will be dearly missed.
A funeral service will be held Friday, February 14, 2025 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Joseph City at 10:00 a.m., with a viewing one-hour prior.
The concluding service and interment will be at Joseph City Cemetery at 11:00 a.m., with a luncheon following at the church at 12:00 p.m.
