Eddie Hancock

November 26, 1947 — August 19, 2023

In Loving Memory of Percy Edwin Hancock, who passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 19, 2023. He was born November 26, 1947, in Winslow, Arizona to Percy and Maxine Baldwin Hancock.

Eddie enjoyed growing up in Winslow, as the only boy in the house, along with his three sisters. He graduated with honors from Winslow High School. He later graduated from NAU, with honors, with a degree in Business and Finance.

Eddie had a wonderful childhood, spending his summers and many weekends at Taylor, ranching with his grandparents, Art and Florence Hancock. Those times shaped his life. He was a real cowboy at heart. He was a longtime businessman, cattleman and rancher. He was also very civic minded. He worked as an EMT on the Taylor Ambulance, served on the Taylor Town Council, served on the Taylor Rodeo Committee for many years, and helped establish the Taylor Museum, due to the deep love that he had for his ancestors. He always enjoyed sharing stories of the family and town that he loved so much.

Eddie was very involved in scouting and was an influence for good in the lives of countless young men. Many will remember him, dressed in his leather Native American costume and huge headdress as he performed a special ceremony at many Eagle Courts of Honor. He was a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award.

He was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a deep and abiding love for the gospel and his Savior, Jesus Christ. He held many callings, including ward clerk, Bishop, and Counselor in the Stake Presidency. He was a man of great faith.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Marie; sons, Monti (Robbi) and Mark; grandchildren, Lisa Marie (Mckay), Nik (Jordan), Reed (Tori), Lauren, and Ellie; great grandchildren, Maddie Rae, Indy, Dan, and one on the way; sisters, Joyce (Mark) Owens, and Susan (Raymond) Romero.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Michele; and sister, Janice Rees.
