Norberta Cody

April 7, 1955 — April 6, 2021

Norberta “Bert” Cody of Cedar Creek Arizona passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2021. She was 65 years old and shy 1 day of celebrating her 66th birthday. “Bert” was born on April 7th, 1955, and was the eldest child to Lorraine and the late Fred Endfield.

Norberta was a member of the Cedar Creek Assembly of God Church and lived her life humbly caring for her children, grandchildren, sisters, and extended family attending camp meetings every summer in Cedar Creek, Arizona. Bert attended and graduated from Alchesay High School in 1972. In 1973, Bert gave birth to her firstborn son, Dan Butterfield Jr, and shortly thereafter was involved in a car accident that resulted in her being in a wheelchair. But being in a wheelchair never stopped Bert from accomplishing and living her life for the Lord. After high school graduation, Bert went on to school for a short period of time at Arizona State University, and thereafter Bert met the love of her life and married the late Patrick Cody. Bert and Pat went on to have three children, the twins Loribeth and Fredrick “Jake” Cody and the youngest of the siblings, Terrance Cody. Bert and Pat provided for their children, took them on trips to Tucson, the New Mexico State Fair, and every two weeks the family would escape to Show Low and stay at the Tiki Hotel just to watch free HBO.

Bert had a love for sports. She loved to watch her eldest son Dan “Sonny boy” play basketball and baseball. She loved the Phoenix Suns, D-Backs, and UofA and ASU games. Bert had a wonderful smile and gracefully shared what she had with those around her with no complaints. Prayer and family came first, Bert had nothing but unconditional love for her children and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Bert was preceded in death by her husband Patrick Cody and her father, the late Fred Endfield. Norberta is survived by her mother, Lorraine Endfield, sons Dan Butterfield Jr, Fredrick “Jake”, Terrance Cody, one daughter Loribeth, ten (10) grandchildren, three sisters, Sylvia Endfield, Irene Endfield, Dena Foster, and her favorite adopted son Stephen "Malibu" Steak and many extended family and friends.

A viewing will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Monday, April 12, 2021, at Owens Livingston Mortuary, 320 N. 9th St., Show Low, Arizona. The Graveside Service will follow at 12 noon at the Red Hills Cemetery in Cedar Creek, Arizona.
