It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Nellie Cody, beloved daughter, mother, grandmother and cherished member of the White Mountain Apache Tribe, who departed this life on March 14, 2025. Born on September 28, 1946, in Whiteriver, AZ. Nellie lived a life dedicated to her family and community. She was a nurturing homemaker, whose love knew no bounds and whose legacy thrives in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Nellie is survived by her cherished children, Gerald Dahkoshay, Benjamin Cody, Glenda Walker, Bernalda Rustin and Warren Cody; Her spirit will forever be remembered by family and friends who were touched by her kindness, warmth, and unwavering strength.
She is preceded in death by her loving father, Quentin Dahkoshay; and her devoted mother, Ruth Zagotah.
To celebrate Nellie's remarkable life and to honor the profound impact she made on those around her, funeral services will take place on March 24, 2025. The ceremonial events will begin with a Funeral Service at the Whiteriver Assembly of God at 1:00 PM, followed by a Graveside Service at the Whiteriver Cemetery at 2:30 PM. Friends and family are also invited to a Wake Drop Off on March 22, 2025, at 10:00 AM, allowing everyone to share their stories and memories of Nellie in a time of love and remembrance.
Nellie will be laid to rest surrounded by the beauty she loved, forever in the embrace of her land and community. As we gather to celebrate her life, we invite everyone whose life was touched by Nellie to join us in honoring her memory and the love she shared with us all. May she rest in eternal peace.
