Nancy Marshall

July 10, 1949 — January 9, 2024

Nancy Jane Marshall, lovingly known as Nanz, peacefully passed away on January 9, 2024 at her home surrounded by her beloved husband, Larry, in Lakeside, Arizona. She was 74. Nanz was born on July 10, 1949 in Akron, Ohio to her parents, Wilbur Eugene and Mary Jane (Sharp) Marshall.

Nanz grew up and attended school in Ohio. After graduating from high school she furthered her education at San Diego State and finished at Northern Arizona University. She taught school at Blue Ridge Elementary and Northland Pioneer.

In 1992 Nanz met the love of her life, Larry Legge, and they were married in 1996 after Nanz proposed to Larry. Her hobbies included rafting, camping, rockhounding and making great meals.

In 2014 Nanz joined the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Show Low Lodge 2090. Her big heart and love of charitable work were evident from the start. The children's charities, such as the Easter Egg Hunt, Kids' Christmas party, and Clothe-A-Child held high priority for Nanz.

It was evidenced in her monetary contributions and in the volunteer hours she dedicated to the programs, but her big smile showed just how much pride she took in being a part of the Elks and their work with local children.

When it was clear that the Elks Lodge needed responsible, caring, and hard-working officers, Nanz volunteered for the job. She tackled the work with gusto which made her a valued member of the team.

In addition to her membership and involvement in the Elks, Nanz was a member of the Show Low Emblem Club. Upon joining the Show Low Emblem Club, Nanz immediately took a position as an Officer, and continued to hold several different Offices and committees throughout the years, even holding a State Association Office.

She was always 1st to volunteer for any and all charitable endeavors, from organizing and tracking down talent for their most important fundraiser, the annual Talent Show/Luncheon, to working the Bake Sale table at the Elks Friday night Bingo.

She was the epitome of a volunteer, and was a person you could always depend on and would always greet you with a smile. Nanz will be greatly missed by her Emblem sisters and all who knew her.

Somehow finding time among all of her Elks and Emblem charitable works, Nanz was also a dedicated member of the VFW Post 9907 Women's Auxiliary where she was a valued asset among their many community programs. Always giving of herself and putting the needs of others before Her's is something to be admired.

Her one-of-a-kind special soul touched the hearts of so many and her infectious smile that would uplift any mood when she entered the room will never be forgotten. She was always loving and protective of those she held dear.

She was thoughtful and affectionate and when she would give you that smile, you could expect a warm hug or she would grab and pull you closer. Her lasting impression that has been imprinted on the hearts of many will forever be cherished among those she loved.

Nanz is survived by her soul mate and husband, Larry Legge; son, David Frarrar; sister, Janet Cline and a brother, Tim Marshall.

The Elks and Emblem memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Sunday, January 21, 2024 at the Show Low Elks Lodge, 805 E. Whipple, Show Low with a potluck to follow.
