Michael Olson

Michael Evan Olson passed away on July 31st, 2024, at his home in Snowflake, AZ. He was born on November 2, 1972, in Mesa, AZ to Evan and Diane Olson.

He was sealed to Monica (Hoopes) Olson on March 3, 1995, in the Mesa Arizona Temple.

They welcomed their only child, Emily, into the world in 2000.

They lived the majority of their life in Gilbert, AZ. and moved to Snowflake, AZ in 2021.

He owned and operated Olson and Sons Tile along with his cousin, Ben. He also owned Midnight Screen printing.

Michael joined the police force in August of 2006 and retired in April 2023. He served the citizens of Gilbert, AZ for 16 years in Patrol, Bike Patrol, and Internal Affairs Divisions.

Michael had an infectious smile and magnetic personality. He never met a stranger and went out of his way to brighten someone's day. His favorite pastimes were watching BYU football and professional wrestling, mountain biking, and building in his shop. He had a creative mind and loved to have fun and play pranks on his friends and family. He always made everything fun.

He was diagnosed with rare stage IV appendix cancer in November 2019. He endured surgeries and various treatments at MD Anderson in Gilbert, AZ. He ultimately succumbed to the complications of this disease.

He was a man of Faith and had a strong belief in God and Jesus Christ. Even up to the end of his mortal life, he was grateful for the miracles and blessings he had received throughout his life and more so during his cancer journey.

He is survived by his parents Evan and Diane (Dangerfield) Olson, sisters- Alan and Laurie (Olson) Brimhall, Jesse and Shelly (Olson) Brice, Auggie and Lizzie (Olson) Jimenez, Wife Monica and daughter Emily.

A memorial service will take place on Saturday, August 17th at 10 am at the LDS Chapel 1100 N Cooper Rd in Gilbert, AZ. If you would like to visit with family and friends, we will be gathering at 9am that morning at the same location. He will be laid to rest in Snowflake, AZ.
