Michael (Mike) Lee DeWitt Sr. passed away on June 5th, 2019 at home with his beloved wife, JoAnn Elaine (Anderson) by his side. Mike was born Oct 20, 1951, the second son born to Alex Carlyle and Carol (Miller) DeWitt in Holbrook, AZ.
He enjoyed small town life in Joseph City and Holbrook growing up. Mike graduated from Holbrook High School in 1969. He worked at Beck Brother's Furniture and Heward's Auto. When his longtime friend, Curtis Shreeve, asked him to manage Advance Plumbing and Supply, Mike looked forward to the adventure. That adventure lasted 25 years. After closing the business, Mike was hired to be a Service Writer for Tate's Auto Center, later to become the Parts Manager. In July of 2017, Mike retired to allow him time for his love of gardening, grandkids, and service to others. One of his favorite hobbies was indexing records for family history. He marveled at the courage and strength of those that he indexed. He cried for those that were lost in tragic accidents and especially the very young. He served in many callings as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; several Bishoprics, Branch President at Greasewood, AZ, and Holbrook Stake High Council. His favorite places to serve were Greasewood and Indian Wells, AZ.
Mike served on the Holbrook City Council and was a fighter for the underdog. He loved his hometown and wanted it to thrive. He was always willing to help others and was a great example to many. Mike was a devoted son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. He and JoAnn married on April 9th, 1979 and built a beautiful family together. Mike and JoAnn were sealed for time and all Eternity in the Mesa Arizona Temple on October 23rd, 1982. Mike was a one of a kind man. He was thoughtful and well loved by all who crossed his path.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Carlyle; brother, Timothy (Jamie) DeWitt, and sister, Cindy Gregov and an infant sister.
