Mervin L. Baker
June 1, 1941-November 14, 2021
Born in Rockfalls, Illinois. Merv proudly joined the United Stated Marine Corps and served from 1960-1963.
Upon his discharged from USMC he settled in California and worked for Southern California Gas until 1975 when he moved to Lakeside.
He was employed by The City of Show Low and transferred over to the Navajo County Road Department where he eventually retired from in 2006.
In 1980 he married Sandi Mathews and they brought together their 6 children. Merv loved the outdoors and was a wonderful campfire chef. He loved to take his kids and grandkids fishing, hunting, and camping every chance he had. Many of his family and friends have shared stories about our “John Wayne Kinda Man” which opens communication of special moments that they had with Merv.
Family man, loving husband & father, friend, these words aren’t enough to describe the mountain of a man that Merv was.
Merv is survived by his wife Sandi, His children Doris Baker, Brian & Loni Baker, Brent Baker, David & Stacey Baker, Susan & Richard Kurzhals, Richard & Faith Mathews,
12 Grandchildren, and 7 Great-Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews that adored him.
A Viewing will be held Friday, November 26, 2021 from 11:00-12:00 at Owen’s Livingston Mortuary White Mountain Chapel, 320 N 9th Street Show Low, AZ. A graveside dedication will follow at 1:00 pm at the Reed Hatch Memorial Cemetery, 400 Center Street in Taylor, AZ.
