Maxine Ota Holly

Maxine Holly, age 98, died on Saturday, November 24, 2018, at her home in Phoenix, Arizona. She had her daughter, Lynda, and granddaughter, Tiffany, at her bedside.

Maxine left us on her anniversary, to join the love of her life, Joe Holly. Maxine worked in the Defense Factory, in Long Beach, CA and became engaged to Joe, before she was sent to Paris, France to serve in the Women’s Army Corp during WWII as a Staff Sergeant. She maintained records of incoming transportation, equipment and ships. Maxine and Joe kept in contact with each other through letters and looking up to the moon to talk. Until the days nearing her death, she would go outside and talk to her beloved husband, through the full moon. After the war her Navy man Joe and she were married. Maxine and Joe lived in Show Low for 42 years, moving there after their daughter Lynda graduated.

Maxine was loved by all she met. She was known for her warm, beautiful smile and her strong belief in the power of prayer and her love of Jesus. Maxine never said an unkind word. She was compassionate to all she encountered. She accepted lovingly, everyone’s beliefs and lifestyles, and was never judgmental. She was the most loving wife, mother & aunt. She will be missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joel Eugene Holly, Sr., daughter, Enolia Wheeler; & stepson, Joel (Gene) Eugene Holly, Jr.

She is survived by daughter, Lynda Holly; grandson, Michael Meininger (Carla); granddaughters, Heidi Meininger Nanto, Tiffany Young & Holly Young; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; 4 step grandsons, Brian (Mychelle), Delbert, Kevin (Cyndee), Joel,  4 step great-grandchildren & 4 step great-great grandchildren.

A graveside service, with Military Honors, will be held on Friday, November 30^th, at 1:00 pm at the Show Low Cemetery.
