Marie Thackrah, 70, of Show Low, died October 3, 2018. Marie’s vibrant, loving personality was progressively hidden behind the veil of Alzheimer’s disease for the past 14 years. She was born September 10, 1948 to William and Elizabeth Spencer, at the Brewerton Washington Naval Hospital.
Marie is survived by her mother, Elizabeth; husband, Gene; siblings, Tom, Kathlene, Mark, Theresa, and John; children, Lani, Joanna, Rebekah, Mark, and Michael; grandchildren, Kaylee, Jordan, Chelsie, Lucy, Charlie, and one great-grandchild, Rosalind.
Marie loved the earth, desert and mountain hiking, ocean sailing, camping, and the San Diego & Phoenix Zoos, where she and husband Gene often held a yearly pass. Thus they were able to meet children and grandchildren for days of fun. When well, Marie was very active as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, sharing her Bible-based hope of a time when what she suffered from, sickness & death, will be eliminated (Isaiah 11:1-9, Revelation 21: 1-5).
Special thanks to the kind, loving nurses and staff with Hospice Compassus and all, who through prayers and visits, brought a good measure of joy to her life.
Services will be held on Saturday, October 20, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 201 E. Whipple, Show Low, Arizona.
