Margaret Jane Halter

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Halter on September 4, 2021. She was a loving mother of 6, grandmother of 16, and a great-grandmother of 5.

Margaret was born on April 19, 1941, in Steubenville, Ohio. Later, her family moved to Tucson, Arizona, where she graduated from Sunnyside High School. Margaret married her high school sweetheart, Larry Halter on September 14, 1959. They were later sealed on July 22, 1969, in the Mesa Arizona Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Living in various locations in Arizona, California, and Texas, they ultimately ended up settling in Show Low, Arizona. A long-time member of the Show Low community, Margaret worked for the Show Low School District, in various capacities, for nearly 30 years. She loved visiting with friends and family but most of all she loved being with her grandchildren who lovingly referred to her as “Mema”.

Margaret is preceded in death by her husband, Larry Halter and by her son, Garth Halter. She is lovingly remembered by her children: Eric (Sharon) Halter, Ferron (Leoni) Halter, Amanda (Bryan) Rains, Orrin Halter, and Kari (Cray) Lyman.

A viewing for Margaret will be 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M., Friday, September 17, 2021, at Owens Livingston Mortuary - White Mountain Chapel, 320 N. 9th Street in Show Low, Arizona. The funeral service will begin 10:00 A.M., Saturday, September 18, 2021, at the Downtown Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 300 N. 11th Street in Show Low, Arizona, where an additional viewing will begin one hour prior. A luncheon for family and friends will immediately follow. The interment will be at the Show Low Cemetery.
