Lucille Dalton Mobley died Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at her home in Woodruff, Arizona from causes incident to her age. She was 93 years old. The eldest of 10 children, Lucille was born on a Thursday, June 7, 1928, in Camas, Clark County, Washington, to her parents, the late John Luther and Rowena (Flake) Dalton.
She married her Forever Sweetheart, Lester Roy "Shorty" Mobley on December 26, 1946, in Globe, Arizona. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Mesa Arizona Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They celebrated 71 years of marriage when he passed away in the spring of 2018.
She was a happy woman throughout her life. In her younger years, she was quite the athlete and loved to play volleyball as well as softball. Lucille loved the color purple. She spent a lot of her spare time quilting and had made countless quilts throughout her long life. She also was familiar with a crochet hook and loved crocheting doilies, table runners and other special things for others. Additionally, Lucille was blessed with a green thumb and thoroughly enjoyed gardening, whether it was growing flowers and plants or vegetables. She was a devoted wife and loving mother to her family. Lucille was grateful to her husband who afforded her the privilege to be a "stay at home mother" and properly rear her children.
Lucille was well-known wherever she lived. She was loved by, literally, hundreds of people. She believed in being kind to those around her and lived to serve them in any way she was able. She believed in the wonderment of the body with it ability to heal naturally. It not only helped her through her own illnesses, aches and pains but, she was able to help many of her friends and neighbors as well.
Her faith in the Savior of the world was unshakeable. She knew of His divinity and was grateful for her testimony of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. She loved going to the temple with her husband. Within those temple walls, she always felt the peaceful love of her Heavenly Father. Her family now rejoices in knowing that she has been reunited with her eternal companion.
Lucille is survived by her children: James (Suzy) Mobley of Holbrook, Arizona, Richard D. (Darlynn) Mobley of Woodruff, Arizona, Mary Mobley; 4 siblings: Dennis Rogers, John L. Dalton, III, Mildred Hancock, Joyce Mulleneaux; 8 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Along with her parents and husband, Lucille was preceded in death by 5 siblings: Clair Dalton, Nellie Bushman, Beth Cronin, Luana Payne and Ella O'Laughlin.
The public viewing will be 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at Owens Livingston Mortuary - Holbrook Chapel, 409 First Avenue in Holbrook, Arizona. To help maintain a healthy environment, social distancing will be observed and the wearing of masks are suggested and strongly recommended. The graveside service will begin 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at the Woodruff Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest along side her husband, Shorty.
