Kerry Leslie Ballard, 76, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on February 20, 2025.
Kerry was born on August 27, 1948, in Snowflake Arizona. He graduated from Snowflake high school, class of 1966, and served a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in the Rochester New York mission. He attended Brigham Young University where he met his wife, Judith Wade Ballard. Kerry and Judy got married in August 1972 and recently celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary.
Kerry graduated from BYU with a degree in education. Kerry and Judy moved back and established their lives in his beloved town, Snowflake Arizona. Kerry was a special education teacher in the Snowflake school district for 28 years before retiring. Kerry continued working, painting houses and most likely painted yours or someone you know. He served as a Snowflake firefighter for over 20 years. Kerry enjoyed fulfilling civic duties, including serving on the Snowflake town council for 30 years. He was known for his unwavering dedication to the community. He devoted his life to serving others, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him. He was an avid connoisseur of food and loved being first in line. He never met a stranger and enjoyed making friends everywhere he went. His legacy of service and passion for helping others will live forever in the hearts of his family, friends and the community he cherished. His impact will be felt for generations to come.
Kerry is preceded in death by his father, Charles Leslie Ballard, and mother, Melva Rogers Ballard.
Kerry is survived by his wife, Judith Wade Ballard, his sons Melvin Kerry Ballard (Maura), Jonathan Charles Ballard (Jenilyn), David Leslie Ballard (Sandy), his daughters Janelle Jessop (John) and Jennifer Cardita (Greg), his 18 grandchildren plus his 4 1/2 great grandchildren.
All are invited to a public viewing held at the Owens Livingston mortuary in Snowflake, 84 W 19th S St Snowflake, AZ from 6 to 8 PM on Friday, February 28, 2025.
Funeral services will be held in Snowflake Arizona at the LDS Centennial Stake Center 9th S 2nd W St Snowflake, AZ on Saturday, March 01, 2025, starting with a family viewing at 9am and funeral services beginning at 10 AM.
He will be placed to rest at the Mike Ramsey cemetery in Snowflake Arizona.
