Katherine Kinney

Katherine Kinney died Friday, October 8, 2021, at Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center in Show Low, Arizona of Covid-19. She was 59 years old. Katherine was born on Tuesday, February 20, 1962, in McNary, Arizona to her parents, the late Edith (Tonay) and Andrew Kinney.

In 1980, she graduated from McNary High School and was proud to be one of its Green Devils. Throughout her life she worked at various places. She was a wild land firefighter and also worked as a baker and chef at HonDah Casino. A natural caregiver, she took care of many people through the years. When she wasn't working, she enjoyed spending her time doing beadwork and made many pieces of jewelry for both family and friends alike. She also loved a quiet day at the lake fishing. Her favorite fishing hole was at Hawley Lake. 

Katherine was a woman who was strong in her Christian faith. She regularly read her Bible and had many "favorite" scriptures. She was energetic in her worship services and frequently played the drums at church. It is said of her that she played the drums very well.

Katherine is survived by her 7 children: Anita Kinney of McNary, AZ, Catrese (Garrett) Kinlicheenie of Show Low, AZ, Ivan Tsosie of McNary, AZ, Harold "Tiny" Tsosie of HonDah, AZ, Emilio Kinney of McNary, AZ, Carshay Skidmore of Texas, Mytris Norris of McNary, AZ, 5 grandchildren: Antonio, Preston, Codyn, Garryn, Prosper; 5 siblings: Gladys Bencomo of McNary, AZ, Gloria (Dallas) Baha of McNary, AZ, Christine Kinney of McNary, AZ, Harrison (Vivian) Kinney of McNary, AZ and Joyce (David) Skidmore of McNary, AZ. Along with her parents, Katherine was preceded in death by 4 siblings: Andrew Kinney, Jr., Rosie Kinney, Paul Kinney and Rita Norris.

The viewing will be from 7:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at the McNary Pentecostal Church in McNary, Arizona where the funeral will begin at promptly at 10:00 A.M. The concluding service and interment will immediately follow at the Cooley Mountain Cemetery in HonDah, Arizona.
