Karen Lou Peters

We lost our beloved Karen Lou Peters, 76, on January 29, 2022. At her bedside saying goodbye were her husband Fred, son Joe, and daughter Sue.

Karen was born June 22, 1945 in Cleveland, Ohio to Jerry & Lucille Petkovsek. She moved to Phoenix AZ in 1958 and graduated from Arcadia HS and Arizona State University.

In 1968 she married Fred Peters and taught 5th grade in Torrance, CA while he finished dental school. Karen and Fred settled in Show Low in 1970 where their three children, John, Joe, and Sue were born and raised. She is survived by Fred her husband of 54 years, and sons John (Peoria, AZ), Joe (Cottonwood, AZ), and daughter Sue (San Tan Valley, AZ).

Karen loved all children and with her boundless patience and compassion was a natural teacher. In the Show Low School District she taught 1st, 3rd, and 6th grade. She also taught CCD at St. Rita’s Catholic Church during the 1980’s, and later loved being a substitute teacher at St. Anthony’s School. She was always grateful for her wonderful school teacher friends, especially Liz Hogan and Joy Wafer. Her other interests included cooking, homemaking, and reading. She was a most gracious host, a loving caring wife, mother and friend.

Karen was a devout lifelong Catholic. Services and reception will be held at 11:00am Saturday March 12, 2022 at St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Show Low.
