Julious Monroe Blair

May 7, 1926 — November 11, 2018

Julious Monroe Blair was born May 7, 1926 in Rochester, Texas and went to his heavenly home on Sunday, November 11, 2018 in Vernon, Arizona. Julious, also known as JM, was the oldest of 11 children born to Evie and Burl. JM was joined by a baby brother, JC, and as children and young adults the two were inseparable. As the Blair family grew, life took them to several towns in Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico. In 1942 the family moved to Duncan and then Clifton, Arizona, where Burl, JM and JC found employment in and around Clifton and Morenci area.

In 1944, JM enlisted in the Navy and was soon on his way to the Pacific Theater.  JM left on the USS Logan and saw action in Iwo Jima and Okinawa. JM met and married the love of his life, Ann Humbert, on December 1, 1945. JM’s love for Arizona and the Clifton/Morenci area brought JM and Ann back to Arizona after his discharge from the Navy. JM and Ann were blessed with two children, Marcia and Ted (many know him as Fred). JM worked for Phelps Dodge starting out as timekeeper and then moved to the General Office where he was payroll clerk and inventory data processor for many years. Upon retirement from PD, JM wasn’t ready to “go fishing and play golf”, so instead he sold cars for Kempton Motors in Clifton for many years.

JM is preceded in death by his daughter, Marcia Ann, parents, brother JC, sisters Leona and Pauline. JM is survived by his wife of almost 73 years, Ann, son Ted (Laura), sisters Vivian, Patsy (Bill) of Texas and Peggy of Utah, brothers AB (Roberta) of Benson, AC (Jo Ellen), Alton (LaDonna) of Texas and Steve, of Benson. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

At this time, the “Going Home Celebration” has not been scheduled, we will share when we have the date, time and place.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to JM’s favorite charity, the Salvation Army.
