Joylene Ileene Cheney, better known as "Girly," entered eternal rest early Sunday morning, November 19, 2023 at her home in Whiteriver, Arizona. She was born on December 27, 1973.
As one of her favorite songs by George Strait says, "she looked so much like a lady, but she was so much like a child." A result of early medical trauma, Girly retained the innocence and intellect of childhood throughout the course of her life. Living up to one of her nicknames, she was an absolute "Joy" to be around; she loved to laugh, to talk, and to tease. Despite her disability, she had a way with words and a quick wit that left everyone who knew her laughing and with a smile. Her wit, her kindness, her humor, and her love will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
The family would like to thank all who became her friend and cared for her; those of you who took time to joke with her, visit her, greet her, and love her like she loved you. Your kindness and friendship will never be forgotten.
Girly is survived by her siblings; Gilson Cheney, Kathleen "Ann" Kasey (Michael Kasey), Gibson "Stink" Cheney Jr., Gideon Cheney, Gilbert Cheney, Gallason Cheney, Keursha Cheney, and Sheena Cheney. And of course, all her friends and relatives.
She is preceded in death by her parents Gibson and Jolene Cheney Sr. She was their baby, and she missed them dearly.
A viewing and visitation will take place on Monday, November 27 at Owens Livingston Mortuary in Show Low, AZ. There will be an urn burial where she will be laid to rest with her parents at the Crocker Family Plot on River Road in Whiteriver, Arizona on Tuesday, November 28 at 10 AM.
