Johnny David Maestas

Johnny David Maestas, 74, of Holbrook, AZ peacefully passed away on April 8, 2022, after a long battle with liver cancer.  Johnny David Maestas was born on September 26, 1948 in Holbrook, Arizona to Juanita Lucero Maestas and Nestor Maestas.  He was one of 13 children.  He grew up with his brothers and sisters on the Maestas Ranch, outside of the Concho/St. Johns area.

Johnny was a very sociable person who enjoyed playing chess, drinking coffee while smoking a cigarette and talking with friends. Johnny enjoyed working on vehicles, boxing and going to the casino.

His favorite saying was “Shenanigans!!” because of all the Shenanigans that went on in life.

Johnny had five children, Tanya Mock, Rueben Maestas, Derek John, Lewis Maestas, and Vidal Maestas.  He was a loving grandfather to nine grandchildren, Kristian Mock, Lily Mock , Mackenzie Maestas, Dane Maestas, Roman Maestas, Elisabeth Maestas, Tayo Maestas, Oliver Maestas and Raiden John.

Johnny is survived by his children, Tanya Mock (Jim Mock), Rueben Maestas (Erin Maestas), Derek John, Lewis Maestas (Lauren Maestas), Vidal Maestas (Jalynn Gishie), brothers Leo Maestas and Andrew Maestas M.D. and sister Fella Baldwin, grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.  

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Juanita Lucero Maestas and Nestor Maestas, siblings, Vidal Maestas, Louis Maestas, Ned Maestas, Frankie Maestas, Ernest (Bunky) Maestas, Martha Peralta, Genevieve Griego, Gloria Keeton and Madia Pergeson.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
