Johnny Roy Hall

April 30, 1942 — December 1, 2018

Johnny Roy Hall, 76, entered eternal life on December 1, 2018.

Johnny was born on April 30, 1942, in Jackson, California.  He grew up in Northern California and enlisted in the Navy in 1960.  He served honorably with the United States Naval Construction Battalion “Seabees” until 1966.

After leaving the military, Johnny lived a vibrant life.  He loved bull riding, motorcycle riding and performing in his motorcycle thrill show, and singing professionally for a number of years before setting down in Phoenix, Arizona.

While on a horseback ride at South Mountain Park, Johnny met Rachel and fell in love.  They married on September 20, 1980; it was a love that would last 38 years.

Their son, Charlie, was born in 1985 and now lovingly remembers Johnny as being a great dad and his first teacher.  One of Johnny’s most memorable experiences was taking Charlie, at the age of 7 on a 750 mile adventure on horseback.  They followed the Pony Express route on the Applegate Trail.  The trail ride took them through five states, starting in Oregon, covering California, Nevada, Utah and ending in Idaho.

Johnny was a very talented and creative man; everything he did had an artistic element to it.  From building motorcycles to outdoor living spaces, his was a work to admire.  He sang beautifully and played a number of musical instruments.  He loved a good garage sale and had a knack for finding the hidden treasures.

Johnny loved our Lord and Savior, and spent many years sharing his faith with others.  In the mid to late 80s, he was a leader in the Christian Cowboy Association, an organization that ministered through music and the sharing of God’s word.  He was also part of the musical team at Living Faith Church in Linden, Arizona.

Johnny was a deeply loved husband and father.  He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and siblings.

A graveside service with military honors will begin at 9:30 A.M., on Friday, December 7, 2018, at The National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 Cave Creek Road in Phoenix, Arizona. (Southeast corner of Cave Creek and Pinnacle Peak Roads.  Enter the cemetery through the main entrance off of Pinnacle Peak.) Details for a Life Celebration service will be forthcoming.
