Their shared memories will forever hold a special place in their hearts. From a young age, John's devotion to Jesus Christ was evident, and this faith led him to serve two missions in Guatemala. As a young man, he dedicated two years of his life to serving the people of Guatemala, sharing the gospel, and providing aid to those in need. The experience of that mission left an indelible mark on his heart, shaping his character and strengthening his commitment to serving others.
Later in life, with Rhea by his side, John returned to Guatemala for a second mission, a remarkable testament to their unwavering dedication to their faith and the people they served. This mission was a culmination of his shared love for the country, its people, and the joy of missionary service. Their mission together was a shining example of the power of love and partnership, inspiring all who knew them.
Throughout his life, John found joy in many simple pleasures. Working at the temple brought him a profound sense of peace and fulfillment, and he approached his temple service with reverence and humility. Gardening was a passion that allowed him to connect with nature and appreciate the beauty of God's creations. He found delight in cooking and baking, bringing warmth and happiness to his family through delicious meals. His problem-solving skills were unmatched, and he generously lent a helping hand to anyone in need. In his later years, John developed a special bond with his daughters Katherine and Lara as they worked together on various mutual projects. The joy they found in their collaborative endeavors exemplified the strength of family ties and the power of shared passions. These and other relationships bolstered his sprits and gave him strength.
John Lee Tanner was a man of character, integrity, and faith. His legacy will be carried forward by the love he instilled in his family, the impact he had on his community, and the lessons he taught about service and devotion to God. You will be dearly missed, but your memory will live on in our hearts forever. We love you dad.
