John Lloyd Sigmund
April 28, 1967 — November 17, 2018
John Lloyd Sigmund died early Saturday morning, November 17, 2018, at the Sherman Hospice Home in Phoenix, Arizona following a lengthy illness. He was 51 years old. John was born on a Friday, April 28, 1967, in Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa to his father, the late Richard Wayne Sigmund and his mother Juddie Rae nee Cline.
John immersed himself in education acquiring his Master's degree and was working on his Doctorate until his illness caused him to pause. He was a Navy veteran once calling home excited about scuba diving off the coast of Spain and visiting Paris buying his mom perfume.
He loved children and animals. Music, laughter and clutter was a part of his life, always down playing the seriousness of his condition. With his meager social security he managed to send St. Jude's a set amount monthly "for the kids." At Christmas he always bought gifts for a disadvantaged little boy and girl, and took clothing and gifts to shelters, even through difficult times of his illness. He lived on the Navajo Reservation as a child, herding sheep with his "cousins" and later taught school in Gallup, New Mexico.
John is survived by his mother, Juddie Rae Lindley of Show Low, Arizona; sister, Julie (Mike) Fusco of Show Low, Arizona, who steadfastly stayed by his side; his niece and nephew, Amanda and Kenneth "Kenny" Lindley, who he was devoted to, of Show Low, Arizona.
The public visitation and viewing will be from 9:00 A.M. to 10:45 A.M. on Friday, November 23, 2018, at Owens Livingston Mortuary - White Mountain Chapel, 320 N. 9th Street in Show Low, Arizona.
