Janice Nabors

January 22, 1936 — August 4, 2024

Janice Ruth Nabors, also known as "Jonnie, Jan, or Mimi," passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on the morning of Sunday, August 4th, 2024, at her home in Lakeside, Arizona. She was surrounded by her family. She was 88 years old.

Jan was born the 22nd of January 1936 in Tucson, AZ, to the late Royal and Rosa (Evans) Elder.

Jan graduated from Mesa High School in 1954, after which she married Milan A. Robbins, with whom she had her only child. Some years after their divorce, she married the love of her life, Troy Nabors, a beloved western entertainer, in 1968.

As a single mother, Jan began working in the telecommunications industry at a call center and worked her way up to achieve the title of Manager in the Federal Government Service Center of Mountain Bell Phones. She and her team worked to provide secure communication lines for government accounts in the Southwestern US, from White Sands, NM, to airports and secure facilities throughout Arizona. Following her medical retirement, she followed in her mother's footsteps and in 1996 obtained her esthetician license-a profession that fulfilled her passion for making people beautiful.

Known for her perfect complexion and elegance, Jan never missed a hair or nail appointment, no matter the circumstance. She was an avid reader, having read hundreds of novels. She had a sharp sense of humor and loved a good laugh; she always appreciated a joke, pun, or wordplay.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Troy Calvin Nabors; her brother, James "Jimmy" Elder; and her sisters, Rena Hamblin and Nola Sirrine.

She is survived by her son, Randal A., and daughter-in-law, Karen; her grandsons, Steven A. and William W. Robbins; and a large extended family.

A graveside service will be held October 12th at 10:00 a.m. at Mesa Cemetery. A Celebration of Life luncheon to follow.
