James Young

Pastor James (Jim) Young passed away peacefully in his home, with his wife at his side, on December 16, 2024.

Jim was born May 29, 1951, in Pennsylvania. But he grew up in Tempe after his parents moved to Arizona when he was 8. He graduated from McClintock High School and enlisted in the Arizona Army National Guard, where he retired after 23 years of service.

Jim went on to study at Liberty University and became an ordained minister through Independent Assemblies of God. He founded and pastored Golden Harvest Community Church in Arizona City for 8 years. He was a Chaplain for Hospice Family Care for 3 years and in 2013 moved to Show Low, where he worked as a chaplain for Hospice Compassus for 2 years. Jim was very active in his church and served as a pastoral counselor until his health began failing. While homebound, dealing with his health, he wrote a 1st & 2nd edition devotional book to continue his ministry to help others.

Jim is survived by his wife Kathy, 2 daughters: Shannon Young, Kristin Young Hill and 1 stepson Brad Monroe, 5 granddaughters, 2 grandsons and 2 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his mother and father, as well as 3 brothers and 1 sister.

There will be a Celebration of Life at Dream City Church - White Mountains, 4703 Valley Lane, Lakeside, Arizona on January 25, 2025 at 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the White Mountain Hospice Foundation PO Box 1975 Lakeside, AZ 85929 in Jim's memory.
