With her loving family at her bedside, Geannie Pearl Jewell died Thursday morning, June 28, 2018, at her home in Show Low, Navajo County, Arizona following a lengthy illness. She was 91 years old. Geannie was born on Monday, May 16, 1927, in McNary, Arizona to her parents, the late Albert Leroy and Katie Pearl (Adams) Penrod.
Geannie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She is survived by her sister, Rayola Brason; her daughters: Cena Cantrell, Katie VanCleave; her sons: Albert Jewell, Steve Jewell; sons-in-law: Deryl Cantrell, Clyde VanCleave; 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren and 11 step-great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents, Geannie is preceded in death by her brothers: Edwin (Penny), Grant, George (Buddy); her sisters: Florence, Bessie, June; her husband, David Leonard Jewell and by her son, David Leroy Jewell.
Geannie enjoyed spending her time at her Silver Sister luncheons, her Sunday church, visiting with her home teachers and visiting teachers. Her hobbies included her Indian Jewelry and crocheting. Geannie also possessed a special connection with babies and she loved them all. Geannie is loved and will be missed by all.
The public visitation, viewing and friends calling will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, July 5, 2018, at Owens Livingston Mortuary - White Mountain Chapel, 320 N. 9th Street in Show Low, Arizona. The funeral service will begin 10:00 A.M., Friday, July 6, 2018, at the Downtown Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 300 N. 11th Street in Show Low, where additional visitation will begin 1 hour prior. The concluding service and interment will immediately follow at the Show Low Cemetery where she will be laid to rest alongside her forever sweetheart, David L. Jewell.
Geannie's family is thankful for all the expressions of sympathy they have received during this difficult time and are especially grateful for all of the prayers offered up on their behalf.
