Fred Edward Phillips, an Arizona native, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2018, in Pinetop, Arizona surrounded by his family. He was 72. Fred was born in Flagstaff, Arizona on March 10, 1946 to Fred and Mary Ruth (Robbins) Phillips. He was a proud graduate of Flagstaff High School where he was a varsity football player for the Flagstaff Eagles. After graduation, he joined the United States Navy and served in Vietnam.
Fred is survived by his wife of 50 years, Kathy (Bogin) Phillips; his two sons: John Phillips, David Phillips and his wife, Kim; 4 grandchildren: Shelby, Emmy, Bailee and Bowde. He also leaves behind his two sisters: Betty Brasher and Kathy Reinmiller as well as several nieces and nephews. Fred and Cathy moved to Mesa in January of 1971, where Fred continued his career in masonry and was in construction for many years in the valley.
He loved golfing, especially at the Ocotillo Golf Club in Chandler, where he met many good friends.
A special celebration of his life will be held in Flagstaff at a later date.
