Gail Logue Nicoll passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at Friendship Village in Tempe, Arizona at the age of 86. Gail was born on Friday, March 27, 1936, in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee.
Gail was a graduate of Amarillo High School - Class of 1954, in Amarillo, Texas. She attended Brigham Young University in Utah and went on to receive her degree in nursing at North Texas College. Gail continued with her higher education studies and received her bachelor’s degree from Stephen’s College and MBA from the University of Phoenix.
In 1957, Gail married Kenneth Naegle Nicoll in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The couple resided in Mesa, Arizona and remained married for 9 years.
Gail worked as an emergency department nurse for many years before her promotion to various supervisory and managerial positions. When she retired, she was the Director of Emergency Room Services at Scottsdale Memorial Hospital-Osborn. She was instrumental in implementing the first paramedic program in the Phoenix metro area in the early 1970’s, training paramedics while on emergency calls and helping to write the first training curriculum. In 1983, Gail was elected and served as the National President of the Emergency Nurses' Association.
Gail was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Having great faith, she possessed a strong testimony of Jesus Christ. She was a member of the Shalimar Ward and loved her ward family.
She loved to visit her Tennessee family and always maintained a special bond with her aunts, uncles and cousins who lived there. However, her greatest joy in life came from her children. Gail Nicoll is survived by her children: Guy (Lorraine) Nicoll, Karhu Hakataia, Beth (Scott) Moore, Russell (Kennedy) Nicoll; brother, Monte (Monica) Logue, sister, Becky (Robert Peterman) Logue; 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in passing by one grandchild (Jack), and by her parents, Hartwell Brown Logue and Kathryn Anita (Braswell) Logue.
The funeral service will begin 10:00 A.M., Monday, May 9, 2022, at the Del Rio Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1881 E. Del Rio Drive in Tempe, Arizona where the visitation and viewing will begin one hour prior. The concluding service and interment will immediately follow at the City of Mesa Cemetery, 1212 N. Center Street in Mesa, Arizona.
