Floyd B. Hansen passed away on August 18, 2018 at the age of 82 in Snowflake, Arizona. He was the youngest, born to the late Delbert and Alice (Smith) Hansen on August 23, 1935 in Joseph City, Arizona. Floyd grew up on the family dairy farm which would eventually be his life career. After graduating from high school in 1953, he later enrolled in Brigham Young University for two years before serving as a missionary in the Central States Mission. After returning home he continued his studies at BYU where he graduated with a degree in Animal Husbandry.
On July 31, 1964, Floyd married Karen Elizabeth Pihl in the Salt Lake City Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Floyd was a devoted dairyman, farmer and rancher as a partner in Hansen Brothers and Midway Dairy. Five years after the death of his wife Karen, he married Lynne C. Westover on December 6, 2003 in the Snowflake Arizona Temple.
Floyd will be remembered for his quiet wittiness and clever use of words. He was an avid reader, liked listening and dancing to good music, and relished in good political conversation. He was firmly committed to his family, church and community as a stalwart example of faith and endurance.
Floyd is survived by his wife Lynne Hansen of Joseph City, Arizona and his children Brent (Mary) Hansen of Payson, Utah, Stacy (Corey) Thompson of Perry, Utah, Jennifer (Sam) DeGraffenried of Milford, New Hampshire, Elizabeth (Jordan) Miller of Flagstaff, Arizona. Also survived by his step-children Mike (Karlene) Westover of Chandler, Arizona, Raelene (Jim) Stanton of Holbrook, Arizona, Jim (Mindy) Westover of Litchfield Park, Arizona, Raenae (J.R.) Heward of Mesa, Arizona, Tim (Stephanie) Westover of Winslow, Arizona, Greg (Dustin) Westover of Mesa, Arizona, Matt (Amanda) Westover of Rancho Santa Margarita, California, Aaron (Rebekah) Westover of Joseph City, Arizona, his brothers Doyle (Sonja) Hansen of Joseph City, Arizona, Eugene (Eleanor) Hansen of Joseph City, Arizona and sister-in-laws, Sarah May Miller of Joseph City, Linda Rumley of Belen, New Mexico along with 20 grandchildren, 27 step-grandchildren and 20 step-great-grandchildren. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Karen and his older brothers Robert and Ross.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018, at the Joseph City Chapel at 2:00 pm, 8181 Westover Avenue in Joseph City, Arizona. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service with interment immediately following at the Joseph City Cemetery.
