Floyd Gilmore

April 9, 1944 — March 15, 2024

Floyd Allen Gilmore of Show Low, Arizona passed away peacefully with his family by his side on March 15, 2024. He was 79. Floyd was born April 9, 1944 in Pond, Missouri along with a twin brother. He was #7 of 13 children.

He joined the Navy at the age of 17 and served from 1961-1965 earning the rank of E4. He served on the USS O'Brien (DD-725) before being honorably discharged. He married the love of his life Janice on April 18, 1964 in Long Beach, California. Together they moved to Show Low in 1965 and he started his backhoe career in 1976.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions throughout his life. His favorite calling was that of a Scout Leader that helped countless young men to receive the rank of Eagle Scout.

Floyd will always be remembered by his hard work, and seeing his sons and grandchildren by his side, and of course seeing both him and Janice sitting side by side in his work truck.

Floyd is survived by his sweetheart, Janice Vance Gilmore; children, Allen Gilmore, Angela Kasten, Tracy (Justin) Irwin, Anthony (Talitha) Gilmore, Toby (Jessica) Gilmore; 22 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother, David (Darnell) Gilmore and a sister, Donna Gilmore.

He was preceded in death by a son, Terry Lee Gilmore; parents, George and Pearl (Morgan) Gilmore; a twin brother; sisters, Audrey, Harriett and Betty; brothers, Charles Gilmore, Norman Gilmore and George Gilmore.

A viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Friday, March 22, 2024 at the Show Low Downtown Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 300 N. 11th Street, Show Low.  A graveside service will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, March 23, 2024 at the Show Low Cemetery.
