Flora Mae Hatch was born and raised in Snowflake, Arizona. After graduating from Snowflake High, she spent a year at ASU followed by a year at BYU, eventually ending up back home in Snowflake. She worked at a bank in Holbrook which is where she met her sweetheart, Bob Porter. They were married October 17, 1958, and began their life together in Tucson, Arizona where Bob was attending the University of Arizona. They lived in Tucson until 1967 when Bob joined the FBI and they began traveling. They lived in Alexandria, Va., Key West, Fla., San Antonio, Tx., San Juan, Puerto Rico, Dublin, Ca., and El Centro, Ca. When Bob was killed in the line of duty, Flora took her 5 children and moved them all back to Arizona to be closer to extended family.
Flora was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served faithfully in many organizations. She loved to read and was never without a newspaper and a book. She loved her grandchildren, her sisters and all the friends from around the world that she made in their travels.
She is survived by her children, Vickie (Kevin) Palmer, Valerie (Curtis) Mahon, Kenneth (Tawny) Porter, Marilee (Dave) Cottrell, and her youngest daughter, Kristi Lee, who was her caregiver and was with her at the time of her passing. She leaves 12 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. We love you Mom and Grandma!
