Earleen Sharon Andrews died Monday, June 3, 2019, at her home in Lakeside, Arizona from complications of lung cancer. She was 72 years old. Earleen was born on a Saturday, August 24, 1946, in Miami, Gila County, Arizona to her parents, the late Jack Berlin and Lillie Myrtle (Reeves) Bilberry. Though she was born in Miami, Arizona, Earleen was reared in Superior where she was a graduated member of Superior Senior High School.
Her mother, Lillie, was the Postmaster in Superior and her father was a World War II veteran and worked the Copper mines around Superior and Globe, Arizona. Mom was a cosmetologist and owned her own beauty shop called the Hair Shack in Apache Junction. Her husband, James Andrews, Jr., worked at Kennycott Copper Mine in Kearny, Arizona and retired as a physical plant manager at the Florence State Prison.
Mom, loved playing softball until she suffered a concussion. Then she was relegated to watching softball from the stands and she enjoyed that too! She managed Classic Beauty College in Mesa, Arizona and then taught at East Valley Institute Technology, which was a beauty school. She was involved in the community in Apache Junction, Arizona; she served as a Justice of The Peace, President of the School Board and also served as President of the Chamber of Commerce.
She loved being together as a family and we had a rather large one. Mom taught us, her children, many life lessons throughout our lives. The one that stands out above all others is, "Listen to your mother!" Mom always new her boys' secrets while they were in school. All of our classmates would get their hair done at her Hair Shack in Apache Junction. She had a knack for squeezing info out of our friends, unbeknownst to them, only to use it on us when we got home. She already knew the story before we even opened our mouths and knew when we were fibbing. Moms always know...
Mom and Dad retired to Lakeside, Arizona where they enjoyed living in the heart of the White Mountains. They met many friends in their little piece of Heaven and Mom's was a friendly and famliar face to the places that she frequented. Sadly, her dear husband, James Carroll Andrews, Sr. died on March 6, 2016. Her family was her rock, upon whom she could rely and she drew from their love and support. She was loved dearly by her boys and grandchildren, siblings and friends. Yet, they all find a great deal of peace and comfort during this difficult season knowing that Families Are Forever.
Earleen is survived by her two sons: Darryl Andrews of South San Francisco, California, Michael Andrews of Lakeside, Arizona; one step-son, James Andrew, III of Phoenix, Arizona; six grandchildren: Colton Andrews, Morgan Andrews, Alisa Andrews, Paige Andrews, Taylor Andrews, Chad Jessie; great-grandchildren: Baily Sue Jessie, Dax Thomas Morgan and by one sister, Nancy Wolford of Gilbert, Arizona. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Norman Bilberry, Richard Bilberry and by a grandson, James Andrew, IV.
