Doy J Reidhead

Doy J Reidhead passed away on Friday, April 26, 2019. He was born to Charles Royal Reidhead and Olive Butler Reidhead on November 23, 1933 in the historic Reidhead home on Main Street in Show Low.

He wanted to be a cowboy from the age of 3 and spent his life achieving that goal. He always said he found the love of his life at age 5 when he first saw Leone Pearce. He finally convinced her to marry him at the ripe age of 17. They had eight children: Mike (Helen), Jim (Tamra), Paula (David) Farr, Teele, Konnie (Billy) Kolnsberg, Molli (Tom) Haught, Buffi (Laren) Flake, and Karalyn Reidhead. They now have 34 grandchildren and 70 great - grandchildren and just celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary.

Doy spent the first 25 years of their married life running his own lumber and logging company in the White Mountains and the next 30 years running his own cattle ranch in the Holbrook area. His second love was team roping. He raised quality rope horses and roped all over the southwest. He was even banned from a few ropings because he was considered too hard to beat.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his two brothers, Tadd (Myrtle) Reidhead, Terrence Reidhead; sister, Sally Pew; great grandson, Sage Eldredge, and great granddaughter, Haizen Michelle Flake.  He is survived by his wife, Leone; in-laws, Jean Reidhead, Mickey Pew, and his children and grandchildren.

A Funeral service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Holbrook AZ, 1127 Helen Ave., on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. A viewing will be held on Friday, May 3rd from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the church and Saturday at 10:00 a.m., also at the church.

Interment will be at Show Low City Cemetery.
