Doris Jean Bemiller

September 18, 1921 — April 18, 2018

Doris Jean Bemiller died on April 18, 2018 at Haven of Lakeside in Lakeside, AZ. She was 96 years young! Doris loved to claim being “ornery”, but was quick with a smile, a compliment, and a squeeze. She had a big heart, and believed that helping others was a way of life. She was a devout Christian and walked in the Lord’s path with every step. She enjoyed life to its fullest and loved spending time with friends and family.

She was born in Nebraska on September 18, 1921 as the only child of Clayton and Hazel Ranney. Her family moved to Glendale, CA where she attended high school. She married the love of her life, Marion C. Bemiller, on September 18, 1944. Doris and Marion started their life together in Temple City, CA, where they raised their two children Kay & Ray. In her younger years, Doris enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting with Marion and the kids. Doris and Marion loved to vacation, and visited nearly every State in the Union, Canada and Israel. Doris was very artistic and delved in craftsmanship throughout her life. She was very talented painting china, decorating cakes, and making beautiful quilts.

Doris and Marion decided to retire in Arizona. They first lived in Mohave Valley where they owned a small home on the Colorado River. They lived there for roughly a decade before moving to Show Low, where they remained for the rest of their lives.

She loved living in the White Mountains and wholly appreciated all of its natural beauty. You could easily find Doris out in her yard gardening and talking to neighbors, taking long drives through the mountains for picnics, or out in a boat with Marion catching fish. She was also involved with New Hope Christian Fellowship in Show Low, where she kept the books for many years and helped with their charity ministry.

Doris is preceded in death by her mother and father, her beloved husband Marion of 63 years, and their first child Neil (whom she loved and thought about every day until her death.)

She is survived by her daughter, Kay and son, Ray (Phyllis). She has six grandchildren: David, Joe (Melanie), Anna, Quinton (Megann), Taylor (Jeshana) and Audra (Paul). She has 9 great grandchildren: Deva (fiance' James) 21, Kylie 18, Sammy 17, Lillie 13, Jade 11, Stevie Ray 9, Harlan Jack 8, and Clyde 1. She also has three new great great grandchildren, triplets: Aurora, Willow, and Lillie (almost a year old).

A private memorial will be held by the family at a later date. Please call Anna at (707) 599-2135 for more information.
