Dixie Ann Nichols

December 14, 1954 — March 2, 2018

Dixie Ann Nichols, passed away Friday, March 2, 2018 at Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center in Show Low, Arizona.  She was born the second of ten children born to Alice and Don Nichols of Selma, Alabama. After earning her Associates degree in Nursing, she worked for twenty years as an Emergency Room nurse at the Vaughn Hospital in Selma. She moved to Show Low, Arizona and continued her career in healthcare until her retirement due to health complications. Her favorite activities included hunting, fishing, road trips, and bingo. You could always find a smile on her face when she was on a boat or with her West Highland Terrier, Nikki. She is survived by her siblings, Angela Corbet, Dawn Nichols, Danny Nichols, Douglas Nichols, Delaine Davis, Dewayne Nichols, Dean Nichols, and Lucinda Nichols. She is preceded in death by her sister Debbie Nichols. She is also survived by Trina Kennedy and her family, Dixie's companion of sixteen years. Dixie loved working at Summit Health and considered her co-workers to be extended family. She especially liked the Tree of Life in the hallway and would be pleased, in lieu of flowers, for any donations to be given to Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center in her name. For friends and family in Arizona, there will be a Celebration of Life for her March 24th from 2:00 - 5:00 P.M. at 880 Kiaya Lane, Show Low.  This will be a time to share memories in an informal setting.  Bring a pot luck dish, a camp chair and wear comfortable clothes.  Dixie loved a casual gathering with a pot luck.  Contact number for pot luck is Sandy Johnson (928)-242-0764. For friends and family in Alabama information will be sent out through social media once the family has had time to make arrangements. Dixie was greatly loved by family and friends, and will always be in our hearts and prayers.
