Dick McNamara “87”, beloved husband for 64 years to Lynn McNamara, passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, July 30, 2019.
Grandson, Kieran John Thompson summed up Dick’s amazing life:
"My Papa, Richard McNamara passed away tonight at the age of 87.
He and my Nana have always lived close to us, and have always been present in my life. A staple at every holiday, every special occasion, I have memories of them in every stage of my life.
Papa was an admirable man. He was witty and charming. He loved to laugh, and I loved to laugh with him. He worked hard and provided a good life for his family. He took time to enjoy life. In retirement he and my Nana visited all 50 states!
He battled with various health issues over the past few years. But any time I thought it might be the end, he bounced back even stronger than before. Each time I said goodbye to him I wondered if it would be the last time. I savored our time together.
When Sam and I got engaged, I wondered if he’d make it to the wedding. He made it, and it was such a joy to watch him and Nana gallivant around the camp.
When Sam got pregnant, I wondered if he’d ever get to see Ruby. He did, many times! Ruby stole his heart, and he often told me what a special girl she is.
His blood runs through Ruby’s veins, and mine, and my mother’s, and my brothers, and cousins, and aunts, and uncles. He helped shaped our hearts and minds. We’re all part of his legacy.
Every time Papa and I spoke he asked me, “How you doing old boy?” Well Papa... I already miss you, but more than anything I’m grateful to have had your influence in life, and I’m proud of the life you lived."
Dick is survived by his wife, Lynn McNamara of Show Low; Children, Randy McNamara, Helena MT, Bobbi (Bernard) Robinson, Great Bend NY, Beth (Will) Thompson, Tempe AZ, 12 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren.
