Our sweet Mama, Dell Marlene Skousen passed peacefully in her son’s home on June 14th, 2023, with her daughter and daughter-in-law by her side. Marlene was born in Holbrook, Arizona on December 29th, 1937, to Dell Wayne and Marjorie (Ellsworth) McLaws. She was the first born of Dell and Marjorie’s 3 children.
Marlene remained an Arizona native and spent much of her young life living in different small towns including Flagstaff and Yuma, eventually settling in Phoenix. Marlene married Eldon Skousen in August of 1955 and later went on to be sealed to him in the Mesa, Arizona Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Together they welcomed 6 children, 17 grandchildren and multiple great-grandchildren until Eldon passed away in 2014. Marlene remained a faithful member of her church, serving in many callings, including as a temple ordinance worker which happened to be her favorite. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, her sweet tooth, and her dedication to her family. Our Mom loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart. She found the greatest joy in family get-togethers and family game nights. She had a very generous and caring personality, and she will remain in our hearts forever.
Marlene is proceeded in death by her parents, Dell Wayne and Marjorie McLaws, Brother-in-law, John (DeeAnn) Mallory, her husband, Eldon and her two sons Michael and Dwayne (Rusty).
She is survived by her brother, Wayne (Patti) McLaws; sister, DeeAnn Mallory; children, Dane (Rebecca) Skousen, David (Wendy) Skousen, Darren (Marjory) Skousen and DeeDee (Greg) Stevenson, and their respective families.
